The Mineral Point Opera House
The Mineral Point Opera House
One of the few remaining film and
performing arts houses in Wisconsin

Since 1915 the Mineral Point Opera House has offered the community an outstanding venue for a diverse program
of musical, dance and theatrical presentations.
We are proud to be the home of the Shake Rag Players and the Mineral Point Film Society.
The initial phase of the restoration of the
Mineral Point Opera House is complete.
We celebrated our Grand Re-Opening
on April 30, 2010.
Thanks to grants and our generous donors, the theater
now boasts updated heating and air conditioning,
a long-overdue sprinkler system, historically accurate
seating, glorious plasterwork and decorative arts painting
by the original group from the theater's inception.
Spend a few minutes viewing the photo journal
of the amazing transformation.
This part of the project is only the beginning. We still have
a long way to go. Phase Two includes refurbishing the dressing rooms and replacing the sound, lighting and rigging systems. Phase Three will make the outside look as grand as the inside.
We had funding to finish Phase One but we are
falling short of our Phase Two and Three goals.
We need more help to keep this beauty alive!
Sincere thanks to Jim Stroschein for his inspiring video:
